Travel Scholarship Policy:
- IHS is excited to offer a limited number of travel scholarships for the 2009 HIV/AIDS workshop at the IHS 2009 National Behavioral Health Conference for non-federal participants who are behavioral health providers, health care providers, community health workers, and others providing direct behavioral health or HIV/AIDS services to American Indians and Alaska Natives.
- Travel scholarships may include the following: (1) airline ticket and/or mileage stipend; (2) ground transportation and/or parking reimbursement; (3) up to three nights of lodging; and (4) meal per diem check at registration, all of which are dependent upon individual schedules and itineraries.
- Although an interest in a travel scholarship, as indicated on the registration form, does not automatically qualify one to receive a travel scholarship, IHS will seriously consider all inquiries on an individual basis, and will respond in a timely manner. Those interested in a travel scholarship must reside outside of a 50 mile radius of the training location to be considered. Those within a 50 mile radius are encouraged to apply for non-scholarship attendance to the training.
- IHS will ask travel scholarship recipients to participate in one (1), optional, post-training follow-up activity in order to measure the extended impact to the training?s usefulness in developing an individual?s behavioral health techniques upon their return to their respective community. If so, one?s time commitment on this post-training activity would be minimal (approximately 1 to 2 hours).
- Travel scholarships are not available to federal employees.
